This week has been kinda crazy. I have been in a different town every day. My companion had MLC (mission leader conference) so I spent the day in Heyburn. I even went all the way out to Yost in Utah!
While in Heyburn I got more experience tracting. It is harder to do that in Albion since we have knocked on every door. We met a lot of people in Heyburn and had a very interesting experience. We knocked on one door and a 15 year old boy answered. We talked to him for a little bit and he told us that he and his family are Odeic. Apparently that is someone who believes in the Norse gods like Thor and Oden. I didn't know that was a real thing.
In Yost this week we met one of the most inspirational people ever. We went out there to help a lady clean her house. She lives out there and takes care of her 75 year old husband who has Parkinsons disease, her mother, and her 3 grandchildren that are all under the age of 4. I am amazed with her faith. She told us about how blessed she is. She told us that even though she has had so many trials Heavenly Father has always been there for her. She also was telling us that her husband is originally from Snowflake, AZ. I told her that that is where some of my family is from. She asked him if he knew any Shumways from there and he said that he did. I thought that was amazing!
This morning we also went out to the Burley cemetery and found Great Great Grandpa Beutler's grave. He just had a plaque on the ground and it was so old that the grass had grown over it and we couldn't even see it. The caretaker there pulled out his metal detector and helped us find it. He dug it up, so now the marker is exposed again.
This week we had a funny/awful experience. We are starting to help Jim prepare to go to the temple when he reaches his 1 year mark. We decided to show him the new temple tour video of the Rome temple. When we got there he told us that his dog, Buddy had eaten something bad that day and had been awfully gassy. I didn't think too much of it and when we got into the video Buddy jumped up and sat in between me and the member that came with us. About halfway through the video, I got a whiff of something awful! I looked over at Emily and she had a horrified look on her face. I was choking on the air I was breathing! I started laughing silently. I couldn't help myself, it was so bad! I was laughing so hard that the couch we were sitting on was shaking. Sister Meredith looked over at me in confusion and her eyes widened when she smelt it. I got myself under control and we finished watching the video. Buddy jumped off the couch and went to sit by Jim's chair. We were talking and then Buddy let off another one. Jim smelt it first and could hardly handle it. He kicked Buddy outside to air out. It was awful but what a funny experience!
Anyway that is all here. We get transfer calls tomorrow so we will see what comes, but I am pretty sure I am staying here in Albion. I love you all!
Love,
Sister Beutler
