This week has been a busy one. On Tuesday Sister Meredith had MLC so I went to Heyburn for the day. We got to teach a lesson and I even helped teach English to a Spanish lady there in the area. I never thought I would have to do that. I was pulling out all of my High School Spanish knowledge. It actually went better than I thought it would. While it was a good day, I am happy to be back in Albion.
Tuesday night we went on our usual splits and I was able to meet a lot of new people. I met some people who are snowbirds that live in St. George during the winter. That night Sister Meredith ran into Casey and she asked him about taking the lessons. He told her that the time is not right for him. His grandma told him that she would cut him off if he ever joins the church. He said that he has to wait till he is no longer dependent on them and when the time is right. I don't know that the time will ever be right. His family will never approve of him joining the church and Satan tries to work hard on them. It was sad to hear him say that, but still we have not given up on him. I know that he will get there and hope we can help him realize how extremely important it is to be baptized and make those covenants with Heavenly Father.
I almost got bit by a dog this week. We were walking back to our car at the end of the day and it was getting dark. Our car was just around the corner and these two dogs ran over to us and started growling at us. We tried to keep walking past and one of them came up behind me and almost bit my leg. I felt it barely tug the back of my leg and then Sister Meredith kicked it and saved me. They were both still not happy and the hair was standing up on the back of their necks. Sister Meredith picked up some rocks from off the dirt road and threw one at one of the dogs. She hit it right in the head and it ran of. She hit the other one and it seemed to make it more mad, but it was cautious. We got around the corner and ran back to our car. That was definitely not fun.
I was asked to play the piano for a baptism for a boy in the ward and that was such a special experience. The spirit was so strong there and I wanted to cry even though I did not even know this boy.
This week we invited a lot of people to come to church for Easter Sunday. A lot of people were there. The Albion ward had a musical Sunday. I sang, "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" with a member of the ward. It was so touching to hear the music that sang praises to our Savior.
I loved the Easter video the church came out with. It made me realize that although Christ performed MANY miracles while he was here on the Earth, his greatest miracle is the one that he performs today in the hearts of every one of us. He can help us change! Don't you love that? This is a gospel of change, it is a gospel of imperfect people, this is a gospel of love. I love my Savior Jesus Christ. He has made it possible for us all to be forgiven so we have the opportunity to become perfect. He has made it possible for us to live again even as he once did and I know that we will. I love the song that I sang on Sunday. Here are a few lines that I absolutely love...
" I know that my Redeemer lives. What comfort this sweet sentence gives!"
" He lives to hear my souls complaint. He lives to silence all my fears. He lives to wipe away my tears."
" He lives, and while he lives, I'll sing"
"Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives: I know that my Redeemer lives!"
It really is sweet to know this and it does bring comfort. Like it says in this Hymn "I'll sing." I will sing because I know He lives and I want everyone else to know that as well and have that joy that comes with knowing their Savior. I love you all and can't wait for the week ahead!
Love,
Sister Beutler
