Parma (Week 1)

Hello everyone!!

Well, it's the start of a new transfer and I can tell that it is going to be good already! A lot happened this past week. I said goodbye to everyone in Boise and ended my time there with the most amazing lesson with Kristina. I have loved Boise so much and I have loved every single person we have taught. Kristina has been so prepared and is so willing to learn. In this lesson we talked about the spiritual experiences she has been having and shared our own. We ended with her baptismal interview and she is all ready for her baptism next weekend. Thanks to technology, I will be able to call in to be there even though I will be in Parma! I could have not asked for a better last lesson in Boise.
It was really hard to say goodbye to Sister Anglin. She really is my Sister and I love her so much. We ran into President Nygaard and he asked how we were doing. He told us that we will be bound together forever and that we really are family. I miss her a lot, but am loving my new companion and area here.
I got to Parma on Thursday and it is a huge change of pace here. EVERYTHING is more laid back and yet it seems the people are so much more involved and knit together in unity. It's actually kinda amazing. I haven't met too many people, since we are still in isolation, but the ones I have met are amazing!
My new companion is Sister Hartshorn. She is from Spokane, Washington and has been out for 6 weeks. She is really tall so we make for a funny pair, but it's all good :)) She was actually originally called to Germany and was in the MTC getting ready to go there when the Corona virus all started. So she was temporarily reassigned out here and is still learning German and waiting til it can open up again. I love her and she is so excited to be a missionary.
We didn't really have food in the house when I got here so Sister Hartshorn took me to the only food place in town. While we were there we ran into Nick, who they had just gotten a referral for earlier in the week! His friend that he works with introduced him to the church and he told her he wanted to meet with the missionaries. So we ended up having a video call lesson with him on Friday! It was wonderful! He told us that he has been reading the Book of Mormon and has felt peace as he has been reading. He also wants to feel forgiven and clean from his past mistakes. We had a wonderful discussion and set up another lesson for this week!
We are the admins on our area Facebook page and have been busily working on that as well. We have some great ideas and hope to get everything running smoothly in the next week or so. It has been a little hard, because our access to computers is very limited so we are working with what we can!
I think I live in the best place ever! Like I said, it is very different from Boise. There are no busy streets, planes, or cars driving everywhere. It is mostly a lot of fields, orchards, and cows. It is BEAUTIFUL! We live in a little red house that is surrounded by fields. We have members right next to us that own the house and take care of it. There are LOTS of spiders and our water smells like sulfur, but for some odd reason I kinda like all of it. It has been a good change of pace and I am excited to see what these next few weeks hold for us. We have another transfer in 3 weeks because we have so many missionaries being reassigned to our mission!
Funny Story:
I am getting over my fear of spiders very fast... THERE ARE SPIDERS EVERYWHERE!! I was moving a box just this morning and when I went to grab it what did I grab instead?? A SPIDER!! It quickly ran away from me and I smashed it before it could hide somewhere else. Also, Sister Hartshorn was eating breakfast when a spider just decided to descend down its web right in front of her on the table. I kinda feel like I am camping a bit and there is always a new adventure every day! We will see what happens this week! I am learning the truth behind the scripture
"that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good." -D&C 122:7
Have a fantastic week!!

Love,
Sister Beutler
