Here are some highlights from my week!
- our Facebook page started our first advertisement and it has been going pretty good! We have had lots of positive interactions as well as some very interesting things. Sister Hartshorn and I were in charge of creating the ad so we went on a little photo shoot and I ended up being in the picture that we used. I tried to get Sister Hartshorn to do it, but she insisted that it be me. From our ad, we actually found someone new to teach and have a lesson set up with him for tomorrow!!
- Mary had another really hard week with opposition all around her. She is still pushing through though! She came to church again this Sunday and loved it! We have also started to call her every morning and we will read a chapter from the scriptures with her. She really loves this because it helps her comprehension of what she is reading. She has also been creating a habit of daily prayer and it is making a huge impact in her life.
- We had a great Stake meeting in which we talked about how the time for action is now. We live in crazy times and even if all this craziness ends something else will end up happening. There is no point in waiting for the world to calm down, because the fact of the matter is that the world will always be crazy. So we must continue to do our best to serve others in whatever capacity we can. It is important to stay safe and smart during these times but we can still move on with life and continue to minister to others.
- This is a quote I loved from this week! "You have a choice. You can wring your hands and be consumed with concern for the future or choose to use the counsel the Lord has given to live with peace and happiness in a world awash with evil. If you choose to concentrate on the dark side, this is what you will see." Elder Richard G. Scott This made me think of a story I heard from a member here. She was telling us how it was her job to spray for weeds in the fields. One day she was training her granddaughter how to do this and was teaching her all the tips/tricks to the job. She noticed that as she would drive by any field, the first thing she would notice was the weeds. That didn't mean that the fields were not beautiful and growing, she had just trained herself to see the weeds. We can "train" ourselves to see the good and we can "train" ourselves to see the bad. Our lives are very similar to this as well. If we train ourselves to see the bad and difficult things in life that is what we will see. They the weeds are a part of the field, but only a small part. If we choose to focus on the good then it will make a world of a difference! This week, strive to seek out the good around you rather than the "weeds." You will always find what you are searching for!I love you all! Have a great week!
