Boise East 4 (Week 29)

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I hope you are all as excited as I am for Thanksgiving! There is no better time of year!
Ok, so I have some news this week and I am just going to get it all out first. We got transfer news on Saturday and things are going to be changing a lot. First off, we got a call from our AP's (Assistants to the President) and Elder Ruiz says, "Can we talk to Sister Beutler?" So I take the phone and they tell me that President Nygaard has extended me the calling to be an STL (Sister Training Leader)!!! I was shocked, but accepted the call. It does not end here.... they then asked if they could talk to Sister Anglin and she will also be an STL! We found out later that night that we will be moving together and will be going back to Sister Anglin's old area in Meridian that she came from 3 weeks ago. We are so excited that we get to stay together as companions and are a little nervous for how this will go, but it will be great! So now we leave on Wednesday and it is seriously the hardest thing saying goodbye to these people that I have been with for the past 7 months. This is honestly what makes a mission so hard. I wish I could take everyone with me, but I know that the Lord has a new calling for me and that I need to be with the people in Meridian.

Now that that's all over, this week we have done so much service. We got to help out bowling at the Special Olympics and I loved it so much. I have never seen so many talented people; they can bowl!! I spent a lot of time with Victoria who was so excited to be there and looks forward to this every year. It was also so special to be with Kyra when she won first place with a score of 152! She cried and I have never been so happy for someone else to win!

We also got to go out to the Lucky Peak Nursery and us and about 10 other missionaries planted 1,200 Idaho Fescue. That was a long day of tedious work. We were planting all this grass for an experiment they are trying out to prove that this grass will choke out weeds. They also gave us a tour of the facility and we learned that they have 800 acres that they use to grow trees and plants to supply National Forests around the US. We got to go inside one of their huge greenhouses that had millions (yes millions!) of tiny trees. They told us that they will deprive the trees almost to the point of dying and then will revive them so that they are prepared to go out into the real world and face tough conditions. That was pretty cool!

Another thing we got to do was be in the Boise Holiday Parade! our stake had a Light the World float that was beautiful!! On it we had a couple dressed up as Mary and Joseph. We passed out Light the World cards and invited people to do service. It was so incredible!

It has been crazy to look back over the last 3 weeks that Sister Anglin and I have spent here. We have gotten so much done and I know that Heavenly Father put us here for a reason even though it was just for 3 weeks. President Nygaard could have closed the area and moved me to Meridian but he listened to the Spirit and I am so grateful he did. We have found 5 new people to teach and have been able to witness the Spirit work in so many ways in people's lives. I am so grateful for the time I have had to spend here in East Boise. I will never forget all the things I have learned and the people I have loved!  My MTC companion, Sister Haymore will be coming here to my area in Boise so I know they will be well taken care of!

This Thanksgiving I am so grateful for this time I have to be here on the Earth. Even though the world is getting crazier every day, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else! I am grateful for personal revelation. Heavenly Father still speaks to us today. He has not and will never leave us alone. Happy Thanksgiving and don't forget to watch the new Christ Child Video and share it with someone! Love you!!

Love,
Sister Beutler

The following e-mail message was sent to Sister Beutler's mom from a member that grew to love her while she served in the Boise East 4 area:

Dear Sister Beutler,

Your daughter has been serving in my ward (Columbia Village) for several months now, and I just wanted to take a minute to tell you what a remarkable young lady you have raised! I have watched her with several companions now, many of whom have returned home for medical reasons, and she has been a quiet strength through it all. She has such patience and compassion. She has been blessed with a pleasant, peaceful countenance that radiates the love of our Savior. It has been my pleasure to take her and her companion grocery shopping each week. My oldest is just starting college and the sisters have been so helpful in what I can expect and what my daughter is thinking/experiencing. I have so appreciated their counsel! Saying goodbye to Sister Beutler was like saying goodbye to an old friend. She is wise beyond her years and a hard-working, humble servant of the Lord. Thank you for raising such such a fine young woman!

Love,
Erin Meeker
