Boise East 4 (Week 26)

What a week!!
So much has happened that it is crazy! So, after Sister Ashworth's doctor appointment last Monday it was determined that she needed surgery on her shoulder. We called and told our Mission President and he said he would look into her options. Well.... he called the next day and said they were sending her home on Thursday. So we spent a few days packing and saying bye to people.
It was so hard for her to leave and hard to say bye, but I know that it was all for a reason. She is planning to be back out as soon as she is able and recovered from surgery. She is incredible and I have been so lucky to serve with her for the past 8 weeks!
So Thursday I spent the day in Meridian with my new companion, Sister Anglin. She is from West Jordan, UT and is just starting her 3rd transfer. So far things are going great! We got to go to the temple for Halloween and it was so great! We went to Meridian so Sister Anglin could say bye to her District.
I think I just about killed Sister Anglin on Friday. We went to contact a referral we received for a lady that lived in an assisted living facility. It was about a 5 mile bike ride from our apartment. We got there and this lady was not answering her door. We figured she had to be somewhere around the place so we asked the receptionist at the desk and she pointed her out to us. She was playing cards so we went over and started talking to the table of seniors. Now this lady, Teddy got all excited and started showing us this book of history she happened to have with her. She stopped her game of cards to talk to us. As we talked she told us that she has a lot of family history in the church and started telling us all of these stories. We told her about the book Saints and she said she wouldn't mind reading that. So we got a return appointment to come read with her. She also said that she started to read the Book of Mormon but couldn't understand any of it. She told us, "You won't make a Mormon of me, but you can come back." So we will be heading back to see Teddy in 2 weeks. She has family coming into town this week and will be spending time with them. The sad news from the week is that Amber has decided that she wants to take a break meeting with the Missionaries since her life is crazy and she wants to study on her own for a while. That was so sad to hear, but we are still praying for her every day!
We also got flu shots this week! Sister Anglin and I got to travel with Sister Nygaard all the way to Ontario, Oregon and back to help her out a bit. So we kind of got a mission tour.
Some insights from this week that I want to share, especially with all of these hard things that have been going on with changing companions and tough people. I have decided that I would not change any of the tough experiences I have had in my life, because they have changed me. Thinking about it, it comes down to 2 questions; Do you let trials soften your heart or harden it? If we soften our hearts, our Heavenly Father can work a mighty change in us. So I urge everyone to stop whatever you are doing that is holding you back from the blessings He wants to give you. Soften your hearts and you will truly see a change for the better!
I love all very much and hope you all have a week full of miracles. Happy November!!!

Love, Sister Beutler
