Boise Central 1 (Week 10)

Okay everyone!! This week went very not as planned! As usual 😂
We made a goal this week to do companionship studies with all of the Sisters we cover. Let's just say that made our week a lot busier.
I got to go back to East Boise for a minute to do a comp Study with the Sisters out there. That brought back so many great memories!
We found out that one companionship of Sisters we cover was super struggling and President Nygaard approved it for us to go on an emergency sleepover in Meridian with them to help them out. One of them decided that she is going home and the other companion was really worried about where that left her. So that night we unexpectedly had to pack an overnight bag and go on a sleepover!
We woke up the next morning and said goodbye before having to run off to our District Council that got moved to Wednesday. We got chosen to role play teaching the Plan of Salvation in 5 minutes and that was a challenge, but we did it!! And it actually went pretty good!!! Well... after that we hurried home and repacked for exchanges!
We had a lesson with Pomusseni who is Dusenge's brother. We got him a Book of Mormon in Swahili and he is excited to learn more. He also said that he would come to church this Sunday. You can bet, we were pretty sad when we found out that church was then canceled for the next few weeks.
This time Sister Anglin left and I got to stay with Sister Sika! We had a lesson with Joe that night and it went so good! He ended up getting a blessing from the Bishopric so it was a great night!
We went to our service the next day at the IRC and it was so great! A ward donated 60 diaper kits and 60 hygiene kits. I didn't even care that we had to spend the rest of our time organizing them! It made me so happy to see people donating to a good cause and helping make these refugees' lives better.
Well... I guess I need to get to the news of the week. Saturday Sister Anglin and I got the news that we are being quarantined. It is not our whole mission. In total there are only 13 missionaries here that have to be in quarantine, and we happen to be 2 of those. Don't know how we got so lucky! Actually, we think it is kinda the worst and it really makes me appreciate being a missionary and getting to talk to people every day!
Just so no one worries.... no, we do not have the Coronavirus, we are not sick, and hopefully this will not last too long. Our mission is just taking precautions because we may have been in contact with people that may have it. Once again it is nothing serious and we are just trying to stay safe and keep others safe. We are still waiting to hear back on results if those we were in contact with actually have it or not.
We video called in with our district and did Come Follow Me with them on Sunday and it was so good! I love how prepared the Church is and all they are doing during these trying times.
Here are some things I learned this week:
1. Reading the word of God every day can heal us by changing our focus.
- Think about it... if we are spending time every day reading the scriptures it will change our focus from being on the world to being on God. During these hard times, rely on the word of God and you will find hope and healing!

2. The gospel is simple. Don't try to make it complicated.
- I was reading in the Book of Mormon in Jacob 4:6 It talks about how some of the people looked "beyond the mark and sought after things they could not understand." Don't forget or lose sight of those simple truths you know. Don't forget to glory in plainness and remember our Savior Jesus Christ.

I love you all!!! Remember to keep learning and to rely on our Savior! He is always there for us and waiting for us to turn to him!

Love,
Sister Beutler

Our office Missionaries: I love them!

Dear Parents and Family Members,

We continue to move the work forward, while staying on top of the Corona Virus situation. We had our first known exposure to the virus that occurred last week. One companionship was exposed to some church members who are strongly suspected of having the virus. (We will know for sure the test studies today.) Those missionaries in turn may have exposed six other missionaries.

Though none of the missionaries are ill, the 8 missionaries that may have been exposed are on self-quarantine to their apartments until testing is done early next week. This will make a false negative test less likely by being done too early. We have asked the missionaries to contact their family if they are being quarantined, so if you have not heard from them, your missionary has not been affected.

This is a very safe place to serve and we continue to follow guidelines for gatherings and illness prevention.

Love and Blessings,

President Nygaard
