Hello everyone! It has been another great week!
Well here we go!Remember Dusenge from last week??We had a lesson with him this week and it was pretty interesting. We had 2 youth from the ward come with us and they were so great! They bore their testimonies and it was incredible to hear them testify. Let me tell you that however simple or insignificant you think your testimony is let me tell you.... it is powerful! Dusenge has read a little bit of the Book of Mormon so we invited him to pray about it. He said he believes this church could be true, he just isn't sure yet. Also here's a pretty cool miracle! We've been trying to find someone who has been referred to us for like 3 weeks. We didn't have the exact address and so we were losing our minds trying to find him. WELL we found out it is Dusenge's brother!! So we have a lesson with him this week as well!
This past Monday we had an AMAZING lesson with the Kirby family. The mom was referred to us by a coworker. She just said she was going through a hard time and said we might be able to help her. We got there and the whole family was listening! We taught the restoration and it was so good. Their 23 year old son got so excited. He's like, "WOW man this book is so incredible. I mean, I could TOTALLY believe this. There's no way its not the word of God." And we would say something and he would go, "YES. I totally agree. Keep going, this is awesome." We gave them a few copies of the Book of Mormon and they were so excited to read. I'm excited to teach them again! They just found an apartment and are not in our area though so we will be having a combined lesson with the Elders in their area.
This last Tuesday was our p-day because we got to go to the temple!! We along with a few Elders got there at 5:00am!! We did a name all the way through. It was so cool to take a name from my family line and perform all the ordinances. I felt the spirit so strong!! There was no better way to spend our morning. I am so grateful to have 2 temples in our mission. While we were there we also happened to run into Sister Jenkins and Sister McCracken from my old area in East Boise!!! I couldn't believe it!
So there is this girl named Sarah who comes to our Book of Mormon class sometimes and calls us about 5 times a day. Well she was sitting next to us in the class and someone asked a question about manna so we got on this little side tangent about it. For those of you who don't know, Manna is basically food from God that the children of Israel lived off of in the scriptures. Well Sarah leaned into Sister Anglin and said, "Do you think they have Mana today??" and she said, "I don't think so." Then she said, "well my mom works at Albertsons so I could ask her to check for it." She was like, "I don't think they sell Mana at Albertsons." And she got a little sassy and said, "Well I could ask!!!" So we just ended up saying "yeah yeah for sure! That's a good idea." We love Sarah!!
We had another lesson with a woman named Heidi that we have not been able to meet with since we got to the area. Well she is awesome! Apparently she made her husband stay home while we came over and he sat down playing Candy Crush on his phone the whole time. He kept making side comments that alluded to him knowing quite a bit about the church. Turns out that he is an inactive member and was a convert himself about 25 years ago! Well get this, we taught the Restoration and it was so incredible. Heidi told us she could definitely believe it to be true and said that she would read the Book of Mormon. While we were reciting the First Vision, her husband, Shawn put his phone down and watched us. He paid much closer attention for the rest of the lesson and gave his own input. It was incredible to watch the Spirit work on them and to feel it in that room! I love teaching the Restoration! I love it because it is true and every time I share it with others I feel it confirmed to me again and again that this is true!!!
Here is a funny story from the week!We were in our lesson with Dusenge that I talked about earlier and his sister and mom were there this time too! Well they speak Swahili and only speak very very little English.
Backstory: Our Zone leaders, Elder Thompson and Elder Christiansen, are teaching a few Swahili people and there is literally nobody who can translate. They've tried everything. (Yes, they even called temple square) so they're like, well we'll just learn swahili! And they have legit taught 3 lessons with these people all through this broken swahili they've learned. Crazy right? Well they tried to teach us how to say 'Holy Spirit' a few weeks ago and so we thought it was easy enough and that we had it down pretty good.
Okay back to the lesson. The sister says she speaks Swahili and Sister Anglin was like, "Oh I know how to say something!! And I proceeded to say what we remembered/thought meant Holy Ghost. Well... the sisters response was, "what language was that?" Everyone busted up laughing, especially Dusenge and the 2 youth we had with us from the ward. We are glad that we can make everyone laugh. I guess we will have to brush up a bit more on our Swahili!
I hope you all have a great week and remember that you have a Heavenly Father who loves you!! I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that you will find great peace and joy in your life if you read it. I know we have a Savior Jesus Christ and that because of Him, we can live forever with our families. I love you all and hope you have a great week!!
Love,
Sister Beutler
